4.22.19
There was 2 things that I knew leaving that appointment. We needed prayers first and answers secondly.
I immediately reached out to my family and my prayer warriors begging for prayers for our baby girl. Prayers for a medical miracle. Prayers for healthy bloodwork. Prayers for complete and perfect chromosomes. Prayers for clarity and comfort.
And with those requests, our families and prayer warriors fell to the feet of Jesus.
I then reached out to a few people in my community of friends and mom groups, asking for any resources anyone had on Tetralogy of Fallot (ToF). The immediate response, of love and support we received was a miracle and answered prayers in itself.
We were put in touch by some close family friends with a Doctor at Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, who not only reached out to me personally after hours but had already contacted one of the pediatric cardiologists there to make sure they knew who we were and that I would be calling in the morning to schedule a consultation and appointment. He confirmed that while this a rare and serious heart condition, he reassured me that it is fixable and that there are many isolated heart conditions, including many cases of ToF, that occur without any other medical issues. He told me that she would be transferred to Cook Children’s NICU after she was born and would have to have open heart surgery within her first year of life, but that 90% of the children that receive this heart surgery live to be healthy, active successful adults.
Even in the midst of our agony and grief, Jesus provided us with the hope we needed. The hope we all prayed for and in less than a few hours God already delivered one of our most immediate needs.
